Locally sourced, local spending
I believe any money that is collected by local government should be spent responsibility and, where possible, on locally produced goods and services. Tea Tree Gully is filled with so many amazing businesses and council should be calling on locals before handing over the rate payers hard earned money.
Smarter spending
As a member of the public I have been witness to some questionable spending by not only public servants but elected officials. I believe there is enough debt out there which we need to decrease and we need harder working public servants, not more that are only there for their pay cheque. I want to review all staff and contractors employed by the City of Tea Tree Gully and 'cut the fat' where we can. This will open up money to be spent else where.
Better promotion of pubic spaces and locally available activities
Tea Tree Gully is filled with so many fantastic local sports teams and community run organisations. I want to use council resources more efficiently to promote these services and promote greater involvement by the community. I have always loved volunteering and want other to see the opportunities and the benefits that volunteering holds.
Greater voter participation
The City of Tea Tree Gully has one of the worst voter turnouts of any council in South Australia. At the last council election in 2022 only 26.74% of enrolled voters took the time to post in their ballot paper with a valid vote meaning we had the second worst turnout of all the councils. I want to see more people getting involved in the process and to do this I want to attend events, not to get votes for myself, but to promote the process, whether people vote for me or not.
