The 2026 South Australian local elections will be held in November 2026 to elect the council and mayor of the City of Tea Tree Gully (TTG). The election will be conducted by the Electoral Commission of South Australia (ECSA).
In the past, TTG has had one of the lowest turnouts out of all councils for enrolled individuals voting, at approx 26%. I would love to see that change this election, with greater participation in what is something that really effects so many of us. Steventon Ward had the highest turn out at the 2022 election with 28.54%.
Allowances
Elected Members receive an annual allowance to assist them in undertaking their functions and duties.
These allowances are set by the independent Remuneration Tribunal of South Australia in accordance with the provisions of section 76 of the Local Government Act 1999 (SA) (the Act).
Elected Members may also receive support in performing their duties as prescribed in the Act and Council’s Elected Member Support and Training Policy. The Policy, as well as a register that records all Elected Members’ allowances and support, is available to view on the City of Tea Tree Gully website.
Other Allowances
External independent members of two of Council’s committees are paid a sitting fee to attend meetings.
Attendance Percentages
The reason some of the % are different is because I have taken into account committees / panels where attendance was expected. If a meeting was adjourned bacause of a lack of quorm, I have taken that as failed attendance. If a meeting was arranged and then cancelled after the fact, I have also taken that as failed attendance.
